Program Description
To enable qualified families to buy goods and/or arrange services of their choice, cash stipends are available through Family Support. Stipends may be used to obtain respite, household help, travel, recreation or anything to benefit families except food, shelter or clothes.

No fee for qualified individuals
 

Eligibility

General Requirements:
A NJ resident
Has a severe, chronic disability that meets all of the following:
Is attributable to a mental or physical impairment or combination of mental or physical impairment, other than mental illness;
and is manifested before the age of 22; and is likely to continue indefinitely;
and results in substantial limitations in at least 3 or more of the following 6 major life activities (For an individual under age 18, the following factors shall be evaluated according to expectations based upon the individual's age.) Self-care, Making decisions, Living independently, Learning, Earning a living, Mobility, Communicating

Language Translation Services
DDD staff have the ability to use Language Line to dialogue with non-English speakers.
 
Further Information
Family Support is a system of services and supports for persons with developmental disabilities and their families. Services, available through DDD regional offices and/or contracted providers, include respite, cash stipends, assistive devices, recreation and tutoring.
