Program Description
The Congregate Housing Services Program provides a number of supportive services to help eligible individuals living in participating affordable housing buildings remain in their apartments.  CHSP supportive services may include: housekeeping, meal preparation, shopping, linen change, laundry, companionship, personal care and assistance with bathing and dressing.
 
Fees
The cost of the CHSP is shared between the State and participating tenants.
A participant's co-pay varies according to his or her adjusted income and the amount of services purchased. A sliding scale is used to determine what percent the participant pays.
 

Eligibility
General Requirements:
Must be a tenant of a subsidized housing site that has a contract with the NJDHSS to offer the CHSP.
 
Income Requirements:
Costs for services vary according to a resident's income and the amount of assistance he or she receives. The State of New Jersey provides a service subsidy to reduce the cost of the program to eligible participants.
 
Areas Served
There are currently 34 agencies that offer the CHSP in 59 subsidized housing sites. There are no sites with the CHSP in Burlington, Hunterdon, Ocean, or Warren counties.
