Program Description
The Social Security and Supplemental Security Income disability programs are
Federal programs that provide assistance to people with long-term or permanent
disabilities. Medical eligibility for these programs is determined by the state
where the claimant resides. Only individuals who have a disability and meet
medical criteria may qualify for benefits under either program. Social Security
Disability Insurance pays benefits to people who are "insured," meaning that
they worked long enough and paid Social Security taxes. Supplemental Security
Income (SSI) pays benefits based on financial need.

No fee for qualified individuals
