Program Description
All deaf and hard of hearing persons are served on an equal basis at all programs funded by the NJ Department of Mental Health Services. A deaf enhanced emergency screening center has specially trained personnel and resources to assist in effective communication with deaf or hard of hearing clients or family members during a psychiatric crisis. When a deaf or hard of hearing person seeks service at any emergency screening center, he or she is offered the choice of receiving service at their local facility or being transferred to an enhanced center.
