The Community Health Centers (FQHCs/CPHCs) serve all residents, including
- migrant and seasonal farm workers
- homeless families and individuals
- public housing residents
- children in school-based settings
- senior citizens
- current and former miners with Black Lung Disease
- people with Hansen's Disease
- people exposed to radiation in uranium mines or at nuclear test sites
- individuals diagnosed with HIV/AIDS
The Department of Health and Senior Services provides compensation to FQHCs/CPHCs to cover the cost of care provided to uninsured and underinsured medical and dental patients. The department also provides grant support to stimulate the establishment of new delivery sites and to improve operations at existing sites.
