| The Samuel L. Baily Huntington's Disease Family Service Center receives
state funds to provide services to families with or at risk of having
Huntington's Disease. Medical services as well as social work, support
groups, education, nursing and genetic counseling not covered under insurance,
are provided to clients using a sliding fee scale. Medicare and Medicaid
are used when available. All non-reimbursable services are supported by
state grants.
The Samuel L. Baily Huntington's Disease Family Service Center supports three
clinics in the southern, central, and northern part of the state:
Clinics:
- UMDNJ/Robert Wood Johnson (RWJ) Medical School, Department of Psychiatry,
183 South Orange Avenue, Newark, NJ 07101
- University Behavioral Health Care, 671 Hoes Lane, New Brunswick,
Piscataway, NJ 08855
- Center for Aging, 42 E. Laurel Road, Stratford, NJ 08084
Services at these clinics include:
- Medical treatment and testing;
- Specialty care including neuropsychological testing, genetic testing and
counseling, social services, individual and family counseling and patient
advocacy;
- Consultation and education to community health care providers,
organizations and other interested parties;
- Support groups for caregivers and HD-affected
patients.
