Program Description
PAAD helps eligible low-income seniors and disabled people pay for their prescription drugs, insulin, needles and syringes as well as needles for injectable medicines used in the treatment of multiple sclerosis. There is a $6 co-pay for each covered generic drug and $7 for each covered brand name drug. PAAD beneficiaries are required to enroll in a Medicare Part D Prescription Drug Plan. They will not have to pay premiums, deductibles, or any out-of-pocket costs beyond the PAAD co-payment.
 
Fees
No application fee/ Co-pay of $5.00 per each prescription.
 

Eligibility
General Requirements:
Proof of age (age 65 or older), disability (Social Security disability) and NJ residence.
No prescription coverage equal to or better than PAAD.
 
Income Requirements:
Single and income up to $24,432 in 2009. The Cost of Living is adjusted annually.
Married and income up to $29,956 in 2009.

The Office of Support Services for the Aged administers the Pharmaceutical Assistance to the Aged and Disabled (PAAD) program, Senior Gold, the Lifeline Utility Assistance programs, and the Hearing Aid Assistance to the Aged and Disabled (HAAAD) program. The office also determines financial eligibility for the AIDS Drug Distribution Program (ADDP) and the Special Low-Income Medicare Beneficiary (SLMB) program.
