Dr. Michael Sebetich is a retired professor with expertise in limnology, lake ecology and management, and stream ecology. He spent the last 35 years of his career at William Paterson University, most recently teaching aquatic ecology and studying the effects of land use on urban streams. He spent the majority of his career focusing on cultural eutrophication—the impact of human activity on the health of lakes and streams.

Prior to joining William Paterson, Dr. Sebetich spent four years researching nutrient cycling in pristine streams for the U.S. Geological Survey. Dr. Sebetich served on the Board of Trustees of the Passaic River Coalition for 15 years, and was Chairman of the Passaic County Open Space Trust Fund Committee during its first 12 years.  He is a U.S. Army veteran and avid fly-fisherman.  Dr. Sebetich holds a Ph.D. in ecology from Rutgers University.
