NJTF-1
team members were the Public Safety category recipients of
the 2002 Governor's Volunteer Awards. "We must secure
the future for the next generation by making a personal commitment
to community service," McGreevy said at the July 9 ceremony.
When I look out at all the honorees, I know New Jersey is
in good, caring hands."
The
NJ Secretary of State press release noted that, "In the
wake of September 11th, the tremendous courage and commitment
of emergency response personnel was never more evident. Task
Force One is an all-volunteer unit made up of municipal fire
departments, emergency service agencies, including police
departments, emergency medical personnel, state agencies,
and the private sector trained in collapsed structure search
and rescue. Their efforts following the terrorist attacks
proved to be invaluable to the rescue operation and contributed
greatly to the overall response effort."
