Troopers Return from Presidential Inauguration Detail

West Trenton, N.J. – Forty troopers returned to New Jersey on Tuesday, January 22, after supporting the 57th Presidential Inauguration. The NJSP presidential inauguration detail left for the nation’s capitol on Saturday.

On Sunday, the 20th, troopers were deputized at a swearing in ceremony by the United States Marshals Service, along with law enforcement agencies from around the country. The troopers were assigned along the parade route to assist the Washington D.C., Metropolitan Police Department (MPDC) with security and crowd control.

"I commend our troopers for their efforts during the inauguration festivities," said Colonel Rick Fuentes, Superintendent of the New Jersey State Police. "These men and women proudly represented New Jersey during their assignment, and contributed to the safety and success of the day."

The contingent of troopers was led by Major Brian McPherson, Commanding Officer, Special Operations Section.

All expenses, including travel, meals, and lodging are being reimbursed by the Metropolitan Police Department.
