Troopers Arrest Fugitive Wanted For
Violent Rape in Massachusetts

Newark, N.J. - On Saturday, March 31st, the New Jersey State Police Fugitive Unit arrested a Massachusetts fugitive wanted for kidnapping and aggravated sexual assault. Eduardo Rodriguez, 40, of Fall River, Massachusetts was wanted by the Massachusetts State Police for the kidnapping and rape of his 17 year old step daughter.

On March 28, 2012, the Massachusetts State Police Fugitive Unit requested assistance from the New Jersey State Police with locating Rodriguez. His alleged crimes occurred in Fall River, MA, on March 23rd. Rodriguez is accused of drugging his step daughter, kidnapping her, violently beating and sexually assaulting her. He then dumped her unconscious body behind a strip mall in Fall River.

The victim survived and was able to identify Rodriguez as her attacker. A warrant was issued for his arrest by detectives in Massachusetts. Information developed by investigators indicated that he may have fled to Newark, N.J. Rodriguez is originally from Newark and is a documented Latin Kings member in the Newark area.

Troopers working the case in New Jersey interviewed associates of Rodriguez in the Newark area. These interviews revealed that he may have been responsible for two other sexual assaults upon juvenile family members. They were also able to confirm that he was currently in the Newark area.

On Saturday, March 31st, detectives tracked Rodriguez to a parking lot at 18 Oliver Street in Newark. He was placed under arrest and lodged in the Essex County Detention Center pending extradition to Massachusetts.

The charges are merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
