  • FEBRUARY 18, 2004: SECURE CORPS RECEIVES FUNDING FOR SECOND YEAR OF OPERATIONS. Rowena Madden, the director of the NJ Commission on National and Community Service, happily informed the NJSC members that the Corps has been awarded a second year grant from the Corporation for National and Community Service to continue the fine work of the NJSC!

  • FEBRUARY 5, 2004: NJVOAD QUARTERLY MEETING. The NJVOAD held its quarterly meeting at the Association for Retarded Citizens building in Princeton. Six NJSC members were in attendance and participated in the discussion of by-laws amendments and the planning of a NJVOAD summer conference.

  • FEBRUARY 4, 2004: MEETING WITH DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH. The NJ Secure Corps was invited to speak with Janet DeGraaf, Director of Communicable Disease Service for the NJDHSS, about community building strategies and the New Jersey Local Information Network and Communications System (NJ LINCS).

  • JANUARY 14, 2004: NJ SECURE MEETS WITH NJVOAD EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE. The NJ Secure Corps met at the NJ Foodbank in Hillside to coordinate its efforts with the executive committee of the NJVOAD. The vision and mission of the VOAD were discussed, and Cathy McCann, the president of NJVOAD, spoke on behalf of the executive committee, offering to be a resource for the NJSC members in their efforts to develop VOADs on a county level.
