ACUPUNCTURE EXAMINING BOARD I ROLL CALL PRESENT Shoshanna Katzman, Mimi Vassilev-Baker, Henry McCann, Nita Raval, Barbara Montana, Mark Matzen, Edith Lee, Karen Wei-Ru C.A., Roger Rossi, D.O. ALSO PRESENT Renee P. Clark, Executive Director Tanya Gollett, Administrative Staff Michelle Weiner, DAG CALL TO ORDER The regular monthly meeting of the Acupuncture Examining Board was called to order at 124 Halsey Street at 9:30 a.m., all members having been notified of the time, date and, place and materials pertinent hereto having been provided. SUNSHINE LAW In compliance with Chapter 231 the Public Law of 1975, notice of this was sent to the Courier-Post and the Record. II. MINUTES A motion was made to approve the June 13, 2007 minutes. The motion was made by Henry McCann and seconded by Mimi Vassilev-Baker. The motion carried by unanimous vote. III. 2007 ELECTIONS A motion was made by to nominate Henry McCann as the new Board president and Mimi Vassilev-Baker as secretary to the Board. The motion was made by Dr. Roger Rossi and Seconded by Edith Lee. The motion was carried by unanimous vote. IV. APPLICATION REVIEW a. Daniel Yi Pursuant to NJAC 13:35 - 9.4(d1) the applicant was approved for licensure. The Board determined that Mr Yi met qualifications required to grant licensure. A motion was made by Edith Lee and seconded by Roger Rossi. The motion was carried by unanimous vote. IV. APPLICATION REVIEW (cont) b. Ying Sun Pursuant to NJAC 13:35 - 9.4d1 the applicant was approved for licensure. The Board determined that Ms. Sun’s transcripts and WES evaluation were sufficient to process her application. A motion was made by Henry McCann and seconded by Roger Rossi. The motion was carried by unanimous vote. c. Liangyun Guo Pursuant to NJAC 13:35 - 9.4d(1) the applicant was approved for licensure. The Board determined that Ms Guo’s met qualifications required to grant licensure. A motion was made by Edith Lee and seconded by Roger Rossi. The motion was carried by unanimous vote. d. James Hahn The board reviewed his application for licensure and moved to approve application. The Board decided that even though Mr. Hahn’s acupuncture training school is on candidate list for ACAOM it is likely to be approved soon. The Board will clarify new regulations to let candidates for ACAOM accreditation be accepted for applicants acupuncture training. A motion was made by Mark Matzen and seconded by Dr. Barbara Montana. The motion was carried by unanimous vote. V. CORRESPONDENCE FROM MR. DORT BIGG, ACAOM The board considered this informational. VI. PACIFIC COLLEGE Pursuant to N.J.A.C. 13:35-9.3 and N.J.S.A. 45:2c-9c, Board requires an acupuncture program that is separate and distinct from traditional four year baccalaureate degree. Edith Lee made a motion to proceed to Executive Session, seconded by Roger Rossi, to consider and review advertisement, consumer complaints and other information received pursuant to the Board’s investigative authority in order to determine whether violations of law, including Board regulations, have occurred. The results of these deliberations will be made known when, and if, the Board chooses to issue a Uniform Penalty Letter, the action will be taken in Public Session immediately after the Executive Session.
