Adopted: March 12, 2002 by the New Jersey State Board of Cosmetology and Hairstyling, Dennis Gullo, Chairperson.

Filed: July 29, 2002 as R.2002 d.273, with a substantive change not requiring additional public notice and comment (see N.J.A.C. 1:30-6.3).

Authority: N.J.S.A. 45:5B-6(r).

Effective Date: August 19, 2002.
Expiration Date: May 8, 2003.

Federal Standards Statement

A Federal standards analysis is not required because the adopted amendment is governed by N.J.S.A. 45:5B-1 et seq., and, therefore, is not subject to any mandated Federal requirements or standards.

13:28-2.10 Ancillary services

(a)-(d) (No change.)

(e) Body piercing shall not be performed in any licensed shop or school of cosmetology and hairstyling. For purposes of this section, "body piercing" means puncturing or penetrating any part of a person's body with a needle or other instrument for the purpose of inserting jewelry or another object into the body <<+except for piercing of the ear lobe only using a pre-sterilized single use stud and clasp ear piercing system following manufacturer's instructions+>>.
