ELECTROLOGISTS ADVISORY COMMITTEE
JANUARY 9, 2006 PUBLIC SESSION MINUTES

A. CALL TO ORDER

This scheduled meeting of the Electrologist Advisory Committee was called to order at 9:30 a.m. in the Sussex Conference Room, 6th floor, 124 Halsey Street, Newark, New Jersey.

The following Committee Members were present for this meeting:

Committee President Marilyn Kraut
Committee Member Karen Moskowitz
Committee Member Paula Miller

The following Committee Member was absent:

Committee Member David J. Goldberg, MD

Staff present:

Executive Director Leslie G. Aronson
Deputy Attorney General Tobey Palan
Keisha Clair, Secretarial Assistant

Public present: None

A quorum was present for the meeting.

In accordance with Chapter 231 of P.L. 1975, more commonly referred to as the Sunshine Law, adequate notice of this meeting was provided by mailing to the Office of the Secretary of State, The Star Ledger, The Trenton Times, The Bergen Record and The Courier Post.

B. APPROVAL OF PUBLIC MINUTES

On a motion of Ms. Miller seconded by Ms. Moskowitz, unanimous vote of the Committee, the September 12, 2005 Public Session Minutes were approved. All in favor.

C. PUBLIC COMMENT

1. Karen Zemaneck, member of the Public, commented that she went to Berkowitz school of Electrology an unaccredited school. Ms. Zemaneck says she did not know that she had to attend an accredited school for licensure. Ms. Zemaneck asked the Committee to clarify what she can do now to obtain licensure.

2. Susan Feder, member of the Public, commented that she passed the CPE exam, completed 600 hours of instruction in electrology, but was not able to be grandfathered. Ms. Feder requested a temporary license until the Jurisprudence exam is available.

D. ADMINISTRATIVE

1. Report by Executive Director Leslie G. Aronson Executive Director Leslie G. Aronson reported the Electrologist applications were ready for distribution. These applications are for individuals who were not eligible for grandfathering and must come through the regular way via examination. Executive Director Aronson highlighted that these applications are for individuals in similar situations as the commenter, Ms. Feder

E. NEXT MEETING

The next regularly scheduled meeting of the Electrologist Advisory Committee is scheduled for February 6, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. in the Sussex Conference Room, 6th floor, 124 Halsey Street, Newark, New Jersey.

F. ADJOURNMENT

Ms. Paula Miller stated that this meeting was her last since she is retiring to Florida. Ms. Aronson along with the Committee members thanked her for all her dedication and time to the Committee.

This meeting of the Board was adjourned at 1:00 p.m.
