ELECTROLOGISTS ADVISORY COMMITTEE
MARCH 20, 2006 PUBLIC SESSION MINUTES

A. CALL TO ORDER

This scheduled meeting of the Electrologist Advisory Committee was called to order at 9:50 a.m. in the Sussex Conference Room, 6th floor, 124 Halsey Street, Newark, New Jersey.

The following Committee Members were present for this meeting:

Committee President Marilyn Kraut
Committee Member Karen Moskowitz
Committee Member David J. Goldberg, MD

Staff present: Executive Director Leslie G. Aronson
Deputy Attorney General Tobey Palan
Isaura Roman, Secretarial Assistant

Public present: Marina Smtemberg, Nina Karakash

A quorum was present for the meeting.

In accordance with Chapter 231 of P.L. 1975, more commonly referred to as the Sunshine Law, adequate notice of this meeting was provided by mailing to the Office of the Secretary of State, The Star Ledger, The Trenton Times, The Bergen Record and The Courier Post.

B. APPROVAL OF PUBLIC MINUTES

On a motion of Ms. Moskowitz seconded by Dr. Goldberg unanimous vote of the Committee, the February 6, 2006 Public Session Minutes were approved with corrections. All in favor.

C. PUBLIC COMMENT

Ms. Nina Karakash, member of the public, expressed her concerns to the Committee regarding the "supposed" closing of the School of Electrology at Union County College. Specifically, since Union County College is the only accredited school by the Council on Accreditation of Electrology Educational Association in the New Jersey/New York area, where can she or any individual now go for training that will be recognized by the Committee? The Committee expressed their concerns as well and assured Ms. Karakash that they are looking into the matter and will get back to her after looking into the matter further.

D. ADMINISTRATIVE

1. Executive Director Leslie G. Aronson reported that as of this date 195 licenses have been issued. Ms. Aronson also reported that the first Electrologist Jurisprudence examination will be offered here at 124 Halsey Street, on Friday March 24, 2006. Furthermore, the examination will be offered on a regular basis to any applicant requiring the exam.

2. Marilyn Kraut reported that the next national CPE examination will be offered at the Doubletree Hotel, Newark, New Jersey (at the airport) on October 20, 2006 at 8:30 a.m.

E. CORRESPONDENCE

1. Letter from Rae Jean Wertheim regarding requirements for an office premises.

The Committee reviewed the letter from Rae Jean Wertheim regarding her inquiry about a portable sink and determined that a portable sink is not acceptable because it doesn’t have running water and would not meet the basic standards of hygiene. Ms. Aronson will write a letter of response with the Committee’s determination.

F. LEGISLATIVE

1. Review of Bill# 1276-Revises procedures for suspension or revocation of licenses for overdue child support.The Committee reviewed Bill# 1276 and totally agreed with this bill.

G. NEXT MEETING

The next regularly scheduled meeting of the Electrologist Advisory Committee is scheduled for May 1, 2006 at 9:30 a.m. in the Sussex Conference Room, 6th floor, 124 Halsey Street, Newark, New Jersey.

H. ADJOURNMENT

This meeting of the Board was adjourned at 11:30 a.m.
