- 3. How do I select a Professional Architect?
A key question to ask, prior to hiring a registered Architect, is whether or not he or she is licensed. Selecting an Architect who complies with the requirements of the New Jersey State Board of Architects is the best assurance that you are working with a professional who will provide quality services. The Board cannot recommend an Architect. However, the consumer may contact the Board directly at 1-973-504-6385 to verify that an individual or business is licensed and in good standing with the New Jersey State Board of Architects. A consumer may search for a registered Architect located in his or her own city by using the State of New Jersey’s Online Licensee Directory located at http://www.state.nj.us/cgi-bin/consumeraffairs/search/searchentry.pl or by contacting the New Jersey chapter of the American Institute of Architects (A.I.A.) at http://www.aia-nj.org.
