The State of New Jersey seeks an experienced professional to serve as a Statistical Analysis Center Analyst in the Department of Law and Public Safety. Under the direction of the Statistical Analysis Center Unit Head, this position will organize searches for information and data with a systematic and logical formatting approach to determine the best course of action to be taken in compiling, prioritizing, collating and evaluating information gathered for the statewide crime plan. Analyze information and data retrieved to assist in investigative studies and the preparation of in-depth reports of a highly complex nature. Publish articles in peer reviewed journals. Gather criminal justice data to establish a profile of an alleged organization(s) or group(s) involvement in gang objectives to determine resources, capabilities, intent and vulnerability studies. Ability to do statistical analysis to an academic peer review standard by utilizing SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences).Take the lead in designing and implementing specialized analytical research objectives and/or revised programs to better gather and filter information and pertinent data related to crime prevention strategies. Develop and maintain a liaison with local, state and federal law enforcement and information gathering agencies to prepare statistical reports for policy makers, planners, and program developers.
Applicant should have 4 years of experience involving the review, analysis, and evaluation of crime trends, organizations, operational methods, or any combination thereof, which shall have included responsibility for the recommendation, planning, and/or implementation of improvements in a law enforcement agency. Graduate of an accredited college with a Bachelor's degree. A Master's degree in a discipline appropriate to the position may be substituted for one (1) year of indicated experience.
