The Banking, Insurance and Insurance
Fraud Section provides legal representation
and counsel to the Department of Banking and
Insurance. That representation includes civil
enforcement actions against licensees and regulated
entities and the representation of the Commissioner
in the role of rehabilitator or liquidator of
insolvent insurance companies. The section's
attorneys defend challenges to Departmental
actions, including insurance rate setting decisions.
The section also provides legal representation
and counsel to the Real Estate Commission, the
Individual Health Care Board, the Small Employer
Health Care Board and the Compensation Rating
and Inspection Bureau.
