The Employment Counseling
Section provides legal counseling and training
for State Departments, colleges, commissions and
agencies with regard to employment issues, focusing
on issues of discrimination, CEPA (whistle blower
law), First Amendment, Due Process, Americans
with Disabilities Act and the Family Medical Leave
Act. The section also assists agencies in proper
enforcement of the State's Anti-Discrimination
Policy, and responds to complaints in administrative
forums that civil rights laws have been violated.
The section also handles hearings on Merit System
Board cases and arbitrations where employees challenge
discipline imposed by State agencies. |
