New
Jersey Juvenile Justice Commission Holds
Chess Tournament
|
|
WHAT:
Twenty-five juvenile residents from various
JJC secure and residential facilities
will compete in the JJC’s Invitational
Chess Tournament. The JJC’s Office
of Education coordinates the competition
between JJC students from both secure
and residential facilities. The teams
competing in the Invitational Tournament
have already participated in the JJC’s
Allstate Tournament which was held last
week.
In addition to teaching students the rules,
offensive and defensive strategies of
chess, the tournament focuses on good
sportsmanship and resolving minor differences
appropriately.

The Female Secure Care and Intake Facility
is a secure facility. Attendees must RSVP
to Sharon Lauchaire, Public Information
Officer, at 609-292 2288
to confirm their attendance and to be
placed on the visitors list.
New Jersey State law protects juveniles’
confidentiality. Consent will be obtained
to allow certain juveniles to speak with
members of the press, including the student
speakers. Photographing all other juveniles
is strictly prohibited.
Please note that visitors will be searched.
Cell phones, pagers, cigarettes, etc.
are prohibited. Photo ID is required.
