MONROE
TWP - The New Jersey Juvenile Justice Commission
(JJC) recently honored Michael Kovacs as
one of five 2005 Correction Officer of the
Year recipients. This award is bestowed
annually upon one officer from each of the
JJC’s five secure facilities. Recipients
of this award are selected based on outstanding
job performance, exemplary work records,
and service to their communities.
Senior Correction Officer Kovacs began his
career at the New Jersey Training School
in 1985, where he has spent his entire law
enforcement career. He currently serves
as a Vocational Officer. In this role, Senior
Correction Officer Kovacs supervises residents
participating in vocational programs, including
graphic arts and culinary classes, and controls
ingress and egress to the vocational building.
“Through
his professionalism on the job and his commitment
to his community, Correction Officer Robert
Kovacs has proven to be a role model and
mentor for the juvenile residents in JJC
facilities, as well for young people in
his community," said Howard L. Beyer,
Executive Director, JJC. "The JJC is
committed to realizing the potential of
the young people in its care and helping
them change the direction of their futures.
Our dedicated and experienced law enforcement
staff play a critical role in fulfilling
this mission.”
Officer Kovacs is married to Jane, his wife,
of 24 years. They are the proud parents
of Nathan and Kristen. Officer Kovacs has
been an active member of his community having
devoted time to the Roebling Fire and Rescue
Squad and having served as a trustee for
the Policeman’s Benevolent Association.
The JJC employs approximately 500 law enforcement
officers.
