Trenton,
NJ – Attorney General Stuart Rabner
today named Joshua M. Ottenberg the new
acting prosecutor in Camden County. Ottenberg,
who is currently the deputy first assistant
prosecutor in Camden, will take office December
1. He will succeed Acting Prosecutor James
Lynch, who announced his resignation last
month.
“Josh
Ottenberg has the experience and qualifications
to step into the acting prosecutor’s
position in Camden County,’’
Rabner said. “I have no doubt the
Camden County Prosecutor’s Office
will continue to aggressively pursue its
criminal cases under his leadership.’’
Ottenberg,
48, has been deputy first assistant prosecutor
in Camden since July 2004. He joined the
Camden County Prosecutor’s Office
in 1988 as an assistant prosecutor and was
assigned to the trial team unit a year later.
In 1991, he was appointed to the special
prosecutions unit, prosecuting official
misconduct and white collar fraud cases.
He was named deputy section chief in 1996.
In
1998, Ottenberg was appointed the Camden
County Police legal advisor, providing advice
to municipal detectives about on-going investigations
and advising municipal and school officials
about criminal law issues, policies and
procedures. In September 2004, his duties
were expanded to include the section chief
of the community partnerships and prosecutions
unit. In that role, he was responsible for
community outreach programs including domestic
violence training of clergy and local healthcare
professions, Internet safety and anti-bullying
programs in schools.

to the community.’’
Ottenberg
was graduated from the University of Chicago
in 1981 with a B.A. in philosophy, and received
a master’s degree in humanities in
June 1982. He received his law degree in
June 1985 from the McGeorge School of Law
at the University of the Pacific in Sacramento,
California.
Ottenberg
was an associate in-house counsel for the
American International Group for three years
before joining the Camden County Prosecutor’s
Office.
