TRENTON
- Attorney General Anne Milgram and Criminal
Justice Director Gregory A. Paw announced
that a Vineland woman who formerly worked
as a corrections officer at Bayside State
Prison was sentenced today for smuggling
contraband to inmates while on duty.
According
to Director Paw, Susan Ferrari, 43, of Vineland,
was sentenced to four years in state prison
by Superior Court Judge John M. Waters in
Cumberland County. The judge also ordered
her to be permanently barred from holding
public employment in New Jersey. Ferrari
pleaded guilty on May 9 to an accusation
charging her with a single count of official
misconduct.
Ferrari
admitted that between May 1 and June 14,
2006, she supplied contraband items to inmates
at Bayside State Prison, including methamphetamine,
marijuana, Oxycontin, alcohol, cell phones
and pornography.
Deputy
Attorney General Erik Daab of the Division
of Criminal Justice - Corruption Unit represented
the Attorney General at the sentencing.
The
Division of Criminal Justice was assisted
by the New Jersey State Police, the Department
of Corrections and the Cumberland County
Prosecutor’s Office.
