is down by more than 51,000 compared to
last year, but more than 245,000 higher
than in 2003 when state legislative races
also topped the ballot.
The
new statewide figures follow the close of
registration on October 16.

the nearly 4.8 million registered voters,
1,164,504 declared themselves Democratic,
874,457 declared themselves Republican,
and 2,756,759 are registered as unaffiliated

as members of the Green, Libertarian, Natural
Law, Reform, or U.S. Constitution parties.
In
addition to the legislative races and municipal
and county races, there are four public
questions on ballots statewide – dedicating
a portion of sales tax revenue for property
tax reform; a stem cell research bond issue;
a Green Acres, farmland, Blue Acres and
historic preservation bond issue; and a
constitutional amendment concerning voting
rights.
The
polls will be open November 6 from 6 a.m.
