TRENTON –The Division of Alcoholic Beverage Control arrested eight individuals last night (Feb. 7) for alleged underage drinking, as well as an off-duty bartender at the bar where they were arrested.
The arrests mark the first time information obtained as part of the “Last Drink Initiative” has led to arrests. The initiative, which began in August 2007, is designed to provide information to ABC on where individuals who have been charged with drunk driving were consuming alcohol immediately prior to their arrest.
According to ABC Director Jerry Fischer, nine people, including a bartender, were arrested at Crossroads at Garwood, located at 78 North Avenue, Garwood. Michael Pizzone, 30, of Somerset, an off-duty bartender at Crossroads at Garwood, was charged with allegedly facilitating the service of alcohol to underage patrons.

Members of the Garwood Police Department assisted State Investigators from ABC in the arrests.
In announcing the arrests, Director Fischer noted that the Division of Alcoholic Beverage Control has established a toll-free hotline for citizens to report illegal activity to ABC’s Investigative Unit. Anyone with information on illegal activity is encouraged to call 1-866-713-8392. All information received via the ABC hotline will remain confidential.
