TRENTON - Attorney General
Anne Milgram announced that two members
of the Nine Trey set of the Bloods street
gang were sentenced to prison today as a
result of an investigation led by the New
Jersey State Police and the Division of
Criminal Justice.
Andre Armand, 37, of Irvington,
was sentenced to six years in state prison
by Superior Court Judge Charles A. Delehey
in Mercer County. He pleaded guilty on Aug.
11 to second-degree racketeering, admitting
he participated in criminal activities for
the Nine Trey set. In addition, Joshua Hopewell,
23, Atlantic City, was sentenced to five
years in prison by Judge Delehey. He pleaded
guilty to second-degree racketeering on
July 28, also admitting his involvement
in gang activities.
The two men were named in
a 74-count state grand jury indictment obtained
by the Division of Criminal Justice on June
8, 2007, which charged 48 defendants, including
the top leaders of the violent Nine Trey
set. A full list of defendants and charges

Deputy Attorney General
John Corson Jr. handled today’s sentencing
hearing. The investigation was presented
to the state grand jury by Deputy Attorneys
General Corson, Andrew Butchko, Lauren Scarpa
Yfantis, James Ruberton and Brent Hopkins.
Attorney
General Milgram credited the detectives
and investigators with the State Police
and the Division of Criminal Justice who
carried out the investigation. She also
thanked the many law enforcement agencies
that assisted in the investigation and arrests,
including the Federal Bureau of Investigation,
Newark Police Department, Trenton Police
Department, Atlantic City Police Department,
Pleasantville Police Department, Washington
Township Police Department (Mercer County),
Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office,
Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office,
Cumberland County Prosecutor’s Office,
Essex County Prosecutor’s Office,
Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office,
Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office,
