TRENTON
- Division of Alcoholic Beverage Control
Director Jerry Fischer announced that the
owner of a Dunellen restaurant was arrested
last night after ABC investigators were
served alcohol even though the restaurant
did not have a liquor license.
According
to Director Fischer, undercover detectives
assigned to ABC entered Indigo Restaurant
Bar and Catering Services and were allegedly
served alcohol on two separate occasions.
Indigo does not have, and has never had,
a liquor license. The restaurant’s
owner, Lorraine Holston, 39, of Jersey City
and Staten Island, was charged with fourth-degree
unlicensed sale of alcohol. Holston is an
employee of the New Jersey Turnpike Authority.
Director
Fischer ordered the restaurant to be padlocked
and its contents to be seized. Fourth-degree
crimes are punishable by up to 18 months
in state prison and a fine of up to $10,000.
The
investigation began when the Division received
complaints about Indigo from both the Dunellen
Police Department and the Dunellen Municipal
Clerk’s office.
In
announcing the arrest, Director Fischer
noted that the Division of Alcoholic Beverage
Control has established a toll-free hotline
for citizens to report illegal activity
to ABC’s Investigative Unit. Anyone
with information on illegal activity is
encouraged to call 1-866-713-8392. All information
received via the ABC hotline will remain
confidential.
