TRENTON
Attorney General Anne Milgram and Criminal
Justice Director Deborah L. Gramiccioni announced
that an insurance brokerage firm located in
Turnersville has been sentenced after pleading
guilty to stealing insurance premium money.
According to Insurance Fraud
Prosecutor Greta Gooden Brown, Privilege Care
Marketing Group, Inc., located at 141 Ganttown
Road in Turnersville, was ordered by Superior
Court Judge Walter L. Marshall, Jr. in Gloucester
County to pay $5,445 in restitution to five
insurance customers who had to pay out of
pocket expenses due to the crime. The sentence
was a result of Privilege Care’s guilty
plea to an accusation which charged theft
by failure to make required disposition.
In pleading guilty on April
13, the Privilege Care Marketing Group, Inc.
admitted that between Nov. 21, 2003 and May
6, 2004, it failed to remit $4,918 of insurance
premium money it received from purchasing
customers to the insurance companies providing
coverage to the customers. As a result, five
people lost their insurance coverage and were
forced to pay out of pocket for health care
treatments.
Detective Kristi Procaccino
and Deputy Attorney General Joan M. Burke
were assigned to the investigation. Burke
represented the Office of Insurance Fraud
Prosecutor at the sentencing.
