Un Agente de New Jersey Transit Suspendido en sus Funciones Se Declara Culpable de Posesión de Marihuana

TRENTON - La Fiscal General Paula T. Dow y el Director de Justicia Criminal Stephen J. Taylor informaron que un Agente de la Policía de New Jersey Transit se declaró culpable de conducta deshonesta por posesión dentro de su vehículo de cerca de 4 libras de marihuana con la intención de venderla.

Barrington Williams, de 48 años, de Irvington, suspendido en sus funciones como sargento de la policía del New Jersey Transit, se declaró culpable de conducta deshonesta en segundo grado, tras comparecer ante el juez de la Corte Superior Michael A. Petrolle en el Condado de Essex.

El Juez Petrolle fijó la sentencia para el 16 de junio. El Estado recomendará que Williams sea sentenciado a 5 años de prisión, a su vez estará prohibido de trabajar en el sector publico.

Los detectives de la policía estatal arrestaron a Williams el 10 de Julio de 2008, cuando ordenaron detener su vehículo en Irvington. Tras ejecutar una orden de registro del vehículo, encontraron 3.7 libras de marihuana en 5 bolsas, $3,600 dólares en efectivo y el arma de fuego oficial de Williams. Al declararse culpable, el acusado confesó que poseía la marihuana con la intención de venderla.

El Detective Sgto. Ronald Hampton coordinó las investigaciones. La Vice Fiscal Annmarie Taggart de la División de Justicia Criminal tuvo a su cargo este caso.
