Date
of Proposal: January 4, 2010
Proposal Number: PRN
210-012
Proposal
Description: The proposal is to readopt,
without amendment, rules prescribing the practices
and procedures of the New Jersey Victims of
Crime Compensation Office (VCCO) relative
to applications for compensation, the awarding
of payment to crime victims, etc. The Criminal
Injuries Compensation Act (N.J.S.A.
52:4B-1) authorizes the VCCO to develop
and adopt rules necessary to fulfill the statutory
purpose of the Act, which provides limited
reimbursement for expenses actually incurred
as a result of personal injury or death due
to any of the violent crimes enumerated in
the Act. The rules currently proposed for
readoption without amendment will be undergoing
substantial revision to update them, as well
as to correct inconsistencies and ambiguities
in language and structure. The existing rules
are proposed for readoption without amendment
to ensure continuity while revisions are being
completed. The VCCO will propose new rules
in the near future.
Summary of Proposal: A detailed
summary of the proposed rule is posted on
the VCCO Web site: www.nj.gov/oag/njvictims/proposed-rules.html
Public
Comment: Public comment on the proposed
rule will be accepted until April 24, 2010.
