TRENTON – The New Jersey Office of the Insurance Fraud Prosecutor has announced the launch of its 2016-2017 campaign against insurance fraud. The campaign aims to generate awareness of insurance fraud and its consequences among New Jersey residents.

“We’re excited about the opportunity to move forward with this campaign. We have a responsibility to protect New Jersey residents from insurance fraud,” said Attorney General Christopher S. Porrino. “Insurance fraud is often thought of as a victimless crime. However, it costs the average New Jersey family an estimated $1300 per year. That’s an annual cost of about $2.6 billion statewide. With the launch of this campaign, we hope to promote understanding about insurance fraud and its costs.”

Working in collaboration with Princeton Partners, Inc., the campaign includes billboards across the state, a heavy digital media presence, and 3D art sponsorships with the New York Giants, New York Jets, Rutgers University, and Princeton University.

These sponsorships will include stadium signage and announcements during designated home football games. Fans will also have the opportunity to take pictures with two interactive 3D art pieces and share those photos on social media.

The first 3D art piece features a swirling pool of money. This is meant to represent the $1300 dollars that New Jersey residents lose to insurance fraud each year. People who engage with the art piece can simulate jumping into this “pool of money.”

The second 3D art piece features a popular cultural icon to represent the creeping danger of insurance fraud: zombies. Like zombies, those who commit insurance fraud are coming… for your $1300. And they won’t stop until all of us, together, stop them.
Follow #FraudZombie for posts about the campaign. Follow @InsurFraud on Twitter and @NJInsuranceFraud on Facebook to stay informed about upcoming events or go to www.nj.gov/oag/insurancefraud.
