Una Compañía de Servicios de Interpretación y  Traducción Para la Agencia del Estado de Protección de Niños Llega a un Acuerdo Porque se Alega Fraude 
N.J. recibirá $400,000 del convenio con los múltiples estados y federal

TRENTON – El Attorney General Christopher S. Porrino anunció hoy que el Estado recibirá $400,000 de un total de $1.5 millones de un convenio de muchos estados y federal con  Para-Plus Translations, Inc., una compañía acusada de defraudar agencias del gobierno con las cuales tenía contratos en New Jersey y otros sitios. Los dueños de la compañía Para-Plus, Robert Santiago III y Sonia Santiago también son parte del convenio.

Basada en Barrington, Camden County, Para-Plus trataba servicios de interpretación, traducción  y transcripciones para el New Jersey Department of Children and Families (DCF). La compañía fue acusada en una demanda federal de un denunciante de defraudar a DCF, agencias estatales del gobierno en Delaware y New York, y otras agencias federales, incluyendo componentes del U.S. Justice Department. Específicamente, Para-Plus se alega cometió violaciones del False Claims Act remitiendo fraudulentas facturas que deliberadamente sobrecargaron el tiempo de viaje de sus intérpretes.

“Esto es un importante acuerdo para los ciudadanos de New Jersey – no solamente por el dinero envuelto, sino también  porque manda el mensaje que tomamos con seriedad nuestra responsabilidad de eliminar fraude y proteger los bienes del Estado,” dijo el Attorney General Porrino. “A través de nuestros esfuerzos y en colaboración con nuestros colegas a nivel estatal y federal, estamos comprometidos a asegurarnos que los fondos públicos se usan para el beneficio público, y no para rellenar los cofres de contratistas sin conciencia.”

Esta demanda de denunciante que contiene las violaciones alegadas al False Claims Act contra Para-Plus fue puesta en el U.S. District Court en Philadelphia en el 2014. El Deputy Attorney General Kent D. Anderson, asignado a la sección de la Division of Law’s Government & Healthcare Fraud, trató el asunto de Para-Plus de parte del Estado.
