NJSP Arrest Bridgeton Man for Calling in Threats to Clementon Park and Cumberland Regional High School

Bridgeton, N.J. - On June 7th, Cumberland Regional High School received a bomb threat causing the evacuation of the school and a disruption to the school's activities. On June 21st, a threatening phone call was made to Clementon Park Splash World causing the evacuation of approximately 5,000 patrons forcing the park to close for the day. On June 22nd, State Police detectives assigned to the Bridgeton station located and arrested the man responsible for these threats.

The detectives investigating the Clementon Park incident identified Darnell Loatman 22, from Bridgeton as a suspect after gathering information from surveillance videos. After obtaining a description of Loatman and his vehicle was obtained from the videos, his vehicle was located. Loatman was placed under arrest a short time later and transported to the Bridgeton station for questioning.

Loatman was charged with two counts of 2C:33-3 False Public Alarms and two counts of 2C:12-3 Terroristic Threats. Bail was set at $50,000 (full cash) for each incident and he was lodged at the Cumberland County Jail in lieu of the $100,000 bail. Detectives also discovered that Loatman had an outstanding bench warrant for Failing to Appear on an unrelated matter.

Criminal charges are also pending from Clementon Police Department.

Arrest does not imply guilt and criminal charges are merely accusations.
A defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty by a court of law.
