TROOPER'S "HEROIC" EFFORT SAVES ACCIDENT VICTIM

TROOPER USES BELT AS TOURNIQUET

Middletown Township, N.J. - New Jersey State Trooper Randy Pangborn responding to a serious motor vehicle accident on the Garden State Parkway northbound at milepost 111 took emergency action that saved a motor vehicle accident victim's life.

A 1999 Ford F-250 pickup truck operated by Jody C. Jameson, 37, of Union Beach, New Jersey failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway and struck a concrete barrier. The impact of the collision resulted in the amputation of Mr. Jameson's left arm just below the shoulder. Upon his arrival, Trooper Pangborn was advised of the situation. Trooper Pangborn reacted by using his Sam Browne Belt as a tourniquet and applying pressure to control the bleeding until more advanced medical assistance arrived. Trooper Pangborn's quick and heroic actions saved the victim's life.

The Lincroft First Aid Squad transported Jameson to Jersey Shore Hospital where surgeons will attempt to reattach the limb.

The accident is currently under investigation.

Trooper Pangborn is stationed at the Holmdel Station on the Garden State Parkway. He has been employed by the New Jersey State Police for 6 years.
