State Police Identify Woman Found on Banks of Delaware River

West Trenton, NJ – Tuesday evening, New Jersey State Police detectives received confirmation that the woman’s body found on the riverbank of Newbold Island is that of Farisha Rahamot-Ali, 38 of Queens, N.Y., who is a native of Trinidad. She was reported missing on October 27th to New York City police.

Rahamot-Ali was positively identified by dental records. Her sister, who lives in Willingboro, was searching the New Jersey State Police website when she saw the press release with a composite drawing and photos of her sister’s tattoos. She contacted Bordentown State Police station detectives to tell them of her suspicion that the body was that of her sister.

Rahamot-Ali was discovered just off the Mansfield Township shoreline by a kayaker on Saturday afternoon, November 14th. The death remains under investigation by the New Jersey State Police Major Crimes Unit and the New York City Police Department.

The Burlington County Medical Examiner's Office performed an autopsy on Sunday, November 15th. The cause and manner of death have not yet been determined. The results of toxicology tests are still pending.
