This is a tricky answer because sometimes children do give their names to people they do not know. If adults you trust are walking with you and you meet one of their friends, they often say, "Tell Mr._____ your name."   Of course then you may feel comfortable to say your name.  But if you are ever alone, it is important not to give your name or other personal information to someone you do not know.
