Ombudsman McCracken visited Hamilton Continuing Care Center on October 1 in honor of national Resident’s Rights Month. McCracken and staff members Kisha Saffron, Deirdre Mraw and Amy Brown facilitated several rounds of “Resident’s Rights” Bingo. Winners received special OOIE gift baskets.
Francis E. Parker Memorial Home
Ombudsman McCracken visited the Francis E. Parker Memorial Home in Highland Park, NJ on Wednesday, July 11 to give a presentation to senior management and their Nurse Leadership Program on the various roles of the Office.
OOIE held a presentation for World Elder Abuse Awareness Day at Bristol Glen Retirement Community on June 12, 2012
From January through May 2012, OOIE held 7 ethics trainings throughout New Jersey and educated more than 500 long-term care professionals. The training, How to Make Ethical Decisions at the Bedside, was presented by bioethicist Dr. Helen Blank.
On Feburary 23, 2012 OOIE partnered with Mary Luby of the Monmouth County Office on Aging to discuss Advance Care Planning with the residence of Lufman Towers.
In keeping with this emphasis on prevention and education, the Ombudsman and staff visited three New Jersey nursing facilities to mark National Healthcare Decisions Day (NHDD) on April 16, 2011.
The Ombudsman and staff attend the NJ League of Municipalities Conference in November 2011.
On April 26, 2012, the OOIE celebrated “Take Our Children to Work Day” with a full day of activities for the children of OOIE employees.

Congratulations to the Tri County Regional Ethics Committee for yet another successful Health Care Decisions Day event at Fox Rehab HQ in Cherry Hill, which was attended by many senior citizens, state Long Term Care Ombudsman James W. McCracken and featured a special appearance by Cherry Hill Mayor Chuck Cahn.
