PROGRAM BENEFITS

The Intergovernmental Transfer Program is designed to result in a positive outcome for all parties involved. Some benefits for you are:

Employees Have the Opportunity to Make a Change- Employees with permanent civil service status can transfer to another jurisdiction, for personal or professional reasons, without a break in service.

Employees can transfer to ANY Merit System Jurisdiction- Intergovernmental transfers can take place from and to any jurisdiction:

Program Allows State and Local Agencies to Reduce Time and Cost of Recruitment and Testing- Agencies can hire experienced employees that already hold permanent civil service status, resulting in less time and money spent in the recruiting and hiring process. Also, experienced employees will eliminate the need for initial training.

Nominated by the Council of State Governments, Eastern Regional Conference: The Office of Intergovernmental Services' Transfer Program was recently nominated as a semi-finalist by the Council of State Governments to participate in their "Council of State Governments Innovations Program" Eastern Regional Conference in New York City on September 11, 2003.

Quality New Jersey 2 nd Annual Government Best Practices Workshop: The Intergovernmental Transfer Program was selected for presentation at Quality New Jersey's (QNJ) 2nd Annual Government Best Practices Workshop held in 2003. QNJ is a volunteer-driven, not-for-profit organization that works in partnership with the New Jersey Commerce and Economic Growth Commission, and is a catalyst for performance excellence "Making New Jersey the Best Place to Work and Live."
