The Acting Commissioner of the Department of Personnel, Hope L. Cooper is a member of the Governor's Cabinet and the Governor's principal advisor on human resource issues. The Commissioner, who is appointed by the Governor with the consent of the Senate, is the Chief Executive of the Department of Personnel.

The Office of Communications, directed by Mark Perkiss, manages the Department's relationship with the media and works with the Governor's Office to communicate the Administration's human resources policies and achievements.  The office responds directly to media inquiries, and briefs the Commissioner on issues in which the media or the public have shown interests.

The Office of Planning and Research, directed by Jeff Richter, is responsible for or contributes significantly to the following: workforce planning and analysis, operations analysis, strategic planning, environmental scanning, surveys and studies, maintenance of an employee disability data base and a Human Resources library, and working relationships with the State Data Center and Bureau of Labor Statistics.

The Office of Legislative Services is responsible for monitoring federal, state, and local government regulations and legislation.  Cheryl Blodgett is the Department of Personnel’s Legislative Liaison (609-292-6219).

Warren Barclay handles Open Public Records Act (OPRA) requests.
