Recognizing the importance of a talented public workforce, committed to excellence in service, the DOP’s Human Resource Development Institute (HRDI) offers a variety of courses geared towards enhancing existing abilities and teaching new skills.
The Certified Public Manager (CPM) Program, offered jointly with Fairleigh Dickinson University, is designed to enable participants to become more effective, efficient and ethical organizational managers. This graduation ceremony marks the completion of a vigorous training program requiring participants to take part in structured exercises focusing on the practical application of management techniques, submit multi-phased projects, and pass examinations. Enrollees are expected to continue to perform their regular job duties while attending classes.
CPM is a family affair for the Sullivan’s. Robert Sullivan (now retired) was among the first graduating CPM class. His wife Patricia and daughter Megan, both Department of Community Affairs employees, graduated this year.
Commissioner of Personnel Rolando Torres, Jr. addressed this year’s graduates. “In doing the important work of public service, we all want to do the best job that we can – and I know that is true for all of our graduates here today, because you made a commitment to public service by investing your time into the Certified Public Manager Program. In doing so, you have emerged from the course as a stronger manager, better prepared to help lead the workforce,” said Commissioner Torres.
DOP is especially proud of our two graduates of the 2005 CPM Program: Annemarie Nostrand and David Rodriguez. For more information about CPM and other courses, please visit the HRDI website, www.njtrainer.org. |
