Addressing the Firemen’s Mutual Benevolent Association’s (FMBA’s) membership during their convention, Commissioner of Personnel Rolando Torres, Jr., thanked FMBA President Bill Lavin for this opportunity, and stressed that the DOP welcomes comments and suggestions about ways we might improve our service. He underlined the importance of the feedback we receive from the DOP’s Fire Advisory Board.
Knowing that the fire community relies on having well qualified new firefighters, Commissioner Torres updated the FMBA with respect to the next entry-level Firefighter examination. In part due to recommendations from the FMBA, the DOP is replacing the bio-data test component with a new video-based test. We are waiting for the U. S. Department of Justice’s approval so that we can announce the examination in May 2006.
Recognizing the debt all New Jerseyans owe to our fire community, Commissioner of Personnel Rolando Torres, Jr. said, “For your skills, your courage, and your commitment to public service, I salute you and I thank you.”
