On Wednesday, July 25, members of the Working Group on Latino Affairs (WGLA) met with Governor Jon S. Corzine to formally discuss a report, which examined the state’s current immigration policy and a proposal to translate the state’s educational assessment into Spanish.
As a critical part of this administration’s effort to foster open communication with Latinos throughout the state, and to advance initiatives that address concerns facing the Latino community, Governor Corzine created the Working Group on Latino Affairs in 2006. Latino State employees from every state agency were selected to represent their department or agency. Representing the Department of Personnel is Ester Rodriguez, a media relations associate with the Communication’s Office.
The unique expertise provided by each member of the WGLA has equipped the group with a wide range of knowledge and skills needed to address the diverse issues of New Jersey’s Latino citizens.
