New Jersey Department of Personnel to Participate in Job Fair and Workshops to Demystify Application Process for Civil Service Employment

TRENTON, NJ — The Department of the Personnel will hold a free public job fair and workshops on the overview of the application process for civil service employment.

Workshops offered statewide will familiarize prospective candidates with the application process; navigating online through job openings; the civil service exam process, and how to address qualifications in the application materials.

Although the State of New Jersey is currently under a hiring freeze, there are entry-level and exempt positions with various State agencies and departments which are always accepting applications from the public.

“Whether you have applied in the past for a civil service position or you are new to the process, these workshops can be tremendously helpful in helping applicants navigate the civil service process to ensure they are made aware of all potential opportunities,” said Personnel Commissioner Rolando Torres, Jr.

Coordinated by the Department of Personnel’s Recruitment Office, the workshops will be open to the public with advance registration. However, attendance may be limited to the space available. Registration for the workshops and job fairs can be made directly through the office hosting the event.

The following list includes upcoming recruitment events from July to December 2007; however, updates may be made on a monthly basis. Activities include career and job fairs and One Stop Career workshops, which are held in conjunction with the Department of Labor’s One Stop Career Center program.
