Forestry Advisory Committee

Recent forestry activity within the Pinelands Management Areas has prompted the reconsideration of those provisions of the Implementation Element of the Comprehensive Management Plan that address forestry. The goal of the project is to maintain forestry as a viable land use while ensuring that harvesting, land preparation, and reforestation practices conducted within the Pinelands are consistent with the Pinelands Commission’s legislative mandate to maintain the Pinelands environment, in accordance with the Pinelands Protection Act. The objective of this Forestry Policies Review project is to:

  1. Review, clarify and refine the Forestry provisions where such refinements are deemed necessary
  2. Reactivate the Forestry Advisory Committee

The Forestry Advisory Committee (FAC), which was re-establish by the Pinelands Commission in accordance with Resolution # PC4-99-94, in March, 2004, has recently completed its work to evaluate forestry practices in the Pinelands. The FAC’s recommendations for forestry are encompassed in their March 2006 Forestry Management Practices Report.
