BASIC WILDERNESS SURVIVAL - 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. In a single day, we'll cover the practical skills needed in a survival situation. The hands-on nature of the course makes it both fun and memorable. By the end of the day, you'll be able to acquire shelter, water, fire, and food. You'll also have a grasp on land navigation with the compass and USGS topo map. Pre-registration required. WHITESBOG VILLAGE TOUR - 1:00 p.m., Whitesbog Village, Route 530, Browns Mills, NJ. Stroll the Historic Village, learn about Whitesbog's role in history and visit Suningive, Elizabeth White's historic home, the worker's cottage's and other buildings that speak to Whitesbog's heritage. MOONLIGHT WALK - 7:00 p.m., Whitesbog Village, Route 530, Browns Mills, NJ. Listen to the night sounds of the Pines, learn about Whitesbog and experience the seasonal changes of the Pinelands. All walks are 3-5 miles in length, weather permitting and led by experienced leaders. WEDNESDAY WALK IN THE WOODS - 10:00 a.m to 1:00 p.m., Bass River State Forest. Explore the nature of Bass River State Forest on this 5-mile, moderate-paced hike.  Bring lunch (optional), rain cancels. Additional hikes on Jan 13, Feb 10 & Mar. 10. The hike is free but you need to register by calling the forest office at 609-296-1114.
