Karen Sutcliffe

Karen Sutcliffe is Assistant County Counsel with the Essex County Counsel's Office. Ms. Sutcliffe concentrates her practice in public sector labor and employment law. She counsels management with day-to-day labor issues and represents management at departmental hearings and hearings before the Office of Administrative Law, the Public Employment Relations Commission, and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. In addition, she represents management at public meetings and counsels clients regarding public records requests pursuant to the revised Open Public Records Act. Ms. Sutcliffe received her B.A., cum laude, from the University of Massachusetts and her J.D. from Seton Hall University and is admitted to practice law in New Jersey, New York, and the District of Columbia. An active member of numerous Bar Associations, Ms. Sutcliffe participates in the New Jersey, New York, District of Columbia, Bergen County, and Hudson County Bar Associations and is a member of the Women Lawyers in Bergen County. Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Sutcliffe served as Law Clerk to the Honorable Mahlon L. Fast, J.S.C., Essex County.
