Public Advocate to mediate dispute between Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield and Capital Health Care

TRENTON - Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield and Capital Health Care have agreed to the Public Advocate’s offer to mediate a dispute between the two companies over a contract for reimbursement of certain medical procedures and other health care needs. 

Last week, Governor Jon S. Corzine asked the Public Advocate to provide assistance in mediating the dispute between the two companies.

"I am pleased that both parties have agreed to Governor Corzine’s call to engage in mediation through our Office of Dispute Settlement,” said New Jersey Public Advocate Ronald K. Chen. “We will work assiduously to help these parties bridge the divide between them.”

Chen stressed that the details of discussions that occur in the context of non-binding mediation are completely confidential.
