Hi, I’m Ron Chen, the New Jersey Public Advocate. Every year, thousands of children are poisoned in the one place they should feel safe- their home. Lead poisoning causes permanent learning and behavioral disabilities. And children often show no symptoms until it’s too late. Children can be poisoned by inhaling dust from peeling lead paint, handling toys or jewelry containing lead, or even from traditional folk remedies.
