As part of Governor James E. McGreevey’s statewide month-long celebration from September 15 through October 15 of Hispanic Heritage Month, Ratepayer Advocate Seema M. Singh is inviting the Hispanic/Latino media to the Division of Ratepayer Advocate’s office to help celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month.

Dr. Luis Martinez-Fernandez, Department Chair, Rutgers-New Brunswick, Department of Puerto Rican and Hispanic-Caribbean studies, will speak on “Hispanic/Latinos in the 21st Century: Challenges We Face and Obstacles We Confront.”

Following the talk by Dr. Martinez-Fernandez, who is a member of Governor McGreevey’s Hispanic Advisory Council, Hispanic pastries and coffee will be served.

“Governor McGreevey is concerned about issues that directly affect the state’s vital and growing Hispanic-Latino community,” said Ratepayer Advocate Seema M. Singh, who is hosting the event.  “Each of the Governor’s Cabinet members is demonstrating the Governor’s collective engagement with the issues affecting the community.  For my part, I will discuss crucial issues for New Jersey utility ratepayers.  I encourage the Spanish-language media to attend.”
